lately, as of late

If you look at Ken's "what to expect" app on his iphone, it will not lie to you. I have 1 week and 5 days from the blessed arrival of baby k. And let me tell you, I am ready. It's incredible what your body does to carry a child, but it is clearly not how my body is meant to stay, hence some insanely uncomfortable nights. Everyone has a remedy to help me be more comfortable. Swollen feet? Elevate them as much as you can. Heartburn? Sit up while you sleep, but still elevate your feet. Poor circulation? Sleep on your side, while sitting up, while elevating your feet. It's quite hilarious at night deciding which of this discomforts I'll focus on. Enough with the complaining, I could not be more excited for this chapter of our lives. She is going to bring us so much joy and I can't wait to share in the joy with Ken.

Of recent happenings, I have about a week more of teaching before my leave starts and though I love teaching, it will be nice to not be on my feet all day! I'm teaching 4th grade ELA this year which has posed new challenges and expectations. I have a great team to work with and a ton of kids to teach, but it's all good!

My oldest brother, Jack got married to a most amazing lady, Becky. Now I have 5 sisters! Their wedding was fabulous. My family is so entertaining and it's fun to see how much other people love my family. If only we all lived a bit closer...

My old roommate, Emily, moved from New Orleans a few weeks ago to start her journey to South Africa where she will be serving the poor, through Christ's love for 3 years. She was my roomie the year Ken and I got engaged, my first year of teaching, and my first year living in a real "hood" if you will. She has taught me so much about grace and acceptance. I will miss her, but I know that she is doing what God has called her to and that simply excites me.

I will post pictures of the babies room once I get all her clothes put away. People have been so generous with gifts and hand me downs, she is already pretty spoiled.
