first tree

It has been a while since we've spoken, dear internet. Much has happened as we embrace the holiday season as married people. We got a tree and it fits perfectly in our humble abode here on Laurel Street. I wish our "street" was a "lane" because it would rhyme with Laurel, but sometimes life just sucks. I say that in jest because lately, I have been so in love with our house, our neighborhood, and the city overall. Sure, the streets in New Orleans are horrible, the crime is bad, and the school system is in great need of reform, but Ken and I have found so much joy in the majority of things here that the bad does not leave as strong an imprint in our minds.

Now, when we ventured out to get our first tree, I was clueless how to pick one out, what type to get, how tall, douglas fir or the others ones... and growing up my parents always went to get the tree. So, it was a big night. I think we bought the first one we saw because it was perfect. And I believe there was almost a glow to it that said, "Pick me, Kostrzewas. I will provide hours of happiness to you and I will hold your ornaments with strength and dignity. I will produce an aroma to your house that will cause visitors to say, 'My, what a lovely tree you have here!' " And so with that clear calling, we bought our first tree.
We have grown a deep love and appreciation for pandora.com We typed in "Christmas" and a whole song list was produced that accompanied our festive evening of tree decorating and peppermint mocha sipping.
